Battle Creek 7, Eau Claire 2 (Game 1)

Brett Wiley (Evansville) had a pair of hits and drove in four runs to lead the Bombers to a victory in game one of the doubleheader Friday. Caleb Vincent (Kellogg CC) limited the Express to two runs over 5 1/3 innings to improve to 3-0 on the season. Jordan Camel (Alvin CC) and DeMarcus Tidwell (Southern Polytechnic) each had two hits in the loss for the Express.

Eau Claire 19, Battle Creek 3 (Game 2)

Eau Claire rebounded in a big way in game two at Carson Park in Eau Claire. A five-run 1st inning bookended by a ten-run 6th inning helped the Express to a 19-3 blowout victory. Ryan Shober (Illinois-Chicago), Parker Hipp (New Mexico State), and Ryan Freitag (Madison College) all hit home runs in the contest. Hipp’s homer was a grand slam in the first inning and he finished with a game-high five RBIs. Ben Kincaid (MSU-Mankato) tossed five innings for the win to imporve to 4-2 on the season.

Alexandria 10, Rochester 5 (10 innings)

A Mike Theofanopolous (California) three-run home run in the top of the 10th inning opened up a five-run outburst for the Beetles in their 10-5 extra-innings victory. Seth McMullen (Winona State) tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the 9th for Rochester with a dramatic two-out, two-run single. Rochester’s Johnny Coy (Wichita State) hit a three-run home run in the 3rd inning for his 10th round-tripper of the season. The win was Alexandria’s 6th in a row.

Duluth 2, Brainerd Lakes Area 1

Kevin Kuntz (Kansas) hit a two-run double in the bottom of the 7th inning Friday to lead the Huskies to a home-victory against the Lunkers. Austin Lubinsky (Minnesota) fired a complete game, eight-hitter for his third victory of the season. Nick Hamilton (Kent State) was 3-for-3 with a walk in the loss for Brainerd Lakes Area. Anthony Hincy (Doane) had two hits in the win for Duluth.

Willmar 3, Mankato 1

Scott Lieser (St. Cloud State) struck out a Stingers-record ten batters over 7 2/3 innings en route the the Willmar 3-1 home victory over Mankato. Lieser allowed just one run while walking two and giving up five hits as he notched his third victory of the season. Pat Stover (Santa Clara) had three hits and an RBI for the Stingers while Garrett Borba (Pacific) had two hits and two runs scored.

Waterloo 5, Wisconsin Rapids 3

The Bucks jumped out to an early 4-0 lead behind a pair of RBI doubles by Jeremy Lucas (Indiana State) and held off the Rafters for a 5-3 road victory. Lucas finished with three RBIs while Drew Walsh (Long Island) went 4-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Mark Strey (UW-Milwaukee) had a perfect night at the plate as well going 3-for-3 with a walk and two runs batted in in the loss for the Rafters.

La Crosse 13, Wisconsin 6

Down by one run entering the bottom of the 5th inning, La Crosse scored five runs before adding five more in the 6th on their way to a 13-6 home victory against Wisconsin in front of a crowd of 3,519 at Copeland Park. Bobby Juan (Minnesota) had another big night as he hit his 5th and 6th home runs of the season, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Corey LeVier (San Diego) launched his 2nd homer of the season in his 3-for-4 performance with four RBIs and three runs scored. Cody Regis (UCLA) had three hits, including his 5th home run for the Woodchucks. Logger Andrew Knapp (California) went 1-for-4 and now has just enough plate appearances to qualify as the Northwoods League leader in batting with a .394 average.

Green Bay 6, Madison 5

Green Bay’s Paul Hoenecke (UW-Milwaukee) blasted two solo home runs, including a shot in the top of the 9th inning that broke a 5-5 deadlock and held up for the 6-5 road victory in front of 6,750 fans in Madison. He now has eight homers on the season. Madison held a 5-2 lead entering the 8th inning in the game. Justin Parr (Illinois) had a double, triple and three RBIs in the loss. The win for Green Bay keeps them one-half game ahead of La Crosse in the second half South Divison standings and drops Madison to 3 1/2 games back.

St. Cloud 11, Thunder Bay 9

Jeremy Banks (Youngstown State) and Derek Campbell (California) combined for seven hits and five runs scored to lead the River Bats to a 11-9 home victory against the Border Cats. Banks went 4-for-5 scoring twice while Campbell was a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk, RBI and three runs scored. In the loss, Cullen Mahoney (South Mountain CC) raised his average to .344 with a 3-for-5, three RBI performance. David Fallon (Illinois State) hit a three-run home run for the Border Cats, his third of the season.
