St. Cloud’s Michael Fagan (Princeton) pitched the final four innings of Saturday’s game against Alexandria and struck out eight Beetles while allowing just one run on two hits. The 6-foot left-hander didn’t factor into the decision of the 9-5 loss. Pitching predominantly out of the bullpen this summer, the San Diego native is likely to claim the Northwoods League’s strike out crown. He now has 81 strike outs on the season in 50 2/3 innings pitched. He has a record of 3-2 with a 1.78 ERA, which would be good for second in the Northwoods League but he’s a few innings shy of qualifying for the league leaders. He was named as an NWL Postseason All-Star on Saturday.
