LA CROSSE, WI – The La Crosse Loggers have retained a pair of arms from their 2011 club as the tenth-year franchise announced the signings of pitchers Zach Wright (Washington) and Jordan Haseltine (San Francisco) today to their 2012 roster. Wright and Haseltine join returnee Bobby Juan (Minnesota) and catcher Tyler Servais (Princeton) on the list of Logger signees to-date.

Zach Wright [pictured left] pitched himself into a starting role in the summer of 2011 for the Lumbermen. After making a pair of appearances out of the bullpen in mid-June, the right-hander tossed seven innings of one-run baseball in a win over the Wisconsin Woodchucks on July 2 and never relinquished his rotation spot after that. For the summer Wright went 2-4 with a 3.50 ERA over 54 innings pitched while striking out 33 batters and walking only ten, showing impeccable control. The 6-1, 175 pound hurler was also very effective for the Washington Huskies as a freshman in 2011. Wright led Washington with a 2.43 ERA over 17 appearances, 16 of which were out of the bullpen, while limiting opponents to a .189 batting average. Now a sophomore, Wright is looking to secure a spot in the Husky rotation as well.

Six-foot, six-inch southpaw Jordan Haseltine [pictured right] is also returning to La Crosse for his sophomore season and will be bringing with him an electric arm. Baseball America ranked him as the 18th best prospect in the Northwoods League at the completion of the 2011 season and touted his fastball that can touch the mid-90’s. Working exclusively out of the bullpen for the Loggers, Haseltine posted a 2-1 record with a 5.40 ERA while striking out 24 batters in 25 innings pitched. The Vacaville, Calif. native was also named to Baseball America’s high school top 100 list for 2010.

Wright, Haseltine and the rest of the Loggers will open their 2012 campaign on the road on May 30 when they travel to Wisconsin Rapids to take on the Rafters. The Loggers will kick off their 10th season of play at home on Saturday, June 2 when they play host to the Madison Mallards at 6:05 p.m. at The Lumber Yard.
