FrogVille,WI – The Green Bay Bullfrogs have announced the first roster signing of the 2012 season with the return of Billy Moon. Moon, a junior at Gonzaga, was regarded as one of the top players in the Northwoods League in 2012 and is expected to hit 3rd for the Zags in 2012.

Prior to having his summer cut short by a shoulder injury, Moon proved to be one of the most consistent hitters in the Northwoods league in 2011, batting .325 with 7 doubles, 3 home runs, and 29 RBI in 41 games.  The consummate all-around players, Moon also stole 11 bases and did not commit an error while logging time at 3 outfield positions.  Also a threat on the mound, the junior left-hander posted a 1-1 record with 14 strikeouts and a 3.14 ERA for the 2011 Bullfrogs.

Named to the mid-season All-Star team, Moon was named the “Best Athlete” at the game by Baseball America.  The accolades continued to pile up following the season as Moon was named to the 30 man Post-Season Northwoods All-Star Team additionally Moon was listed as the 44th best prospect in the Northwoods League in 2011 by Perfect Game.

Moon’s success followed a spring season in which he batted .337 with a team-leading 41 RBI’s for the Gonzaga.  The Bulldogs finished 2011 with a 32-19 record and finished 2nd in the extremely competitive West Coast Conference.

“It is rare to have a player of Billy Moon’s caliber return for a 2nd season,” Bullfrogs Field Manager Jordan Bischel said. “The great thing about Billy is that is a better person and role model than he is a player. We are very fortunate to have Billy in Green Bay for another summer and he will be a great leader both on and off the field.”
