Eau Claire, Wis. – Eau Claire Express field manager Dale Varsho has announced the verbal commitment of three more players to join the team in 2012. One player will be coming back for his third season with the Express, Josh Scheffert.

Two new faces from a familiar school will join Scheffert this summer. Matt Trowbridge and Sean Renzi will be coming to Eau Claire from Central Michigan. They become the newest additions to the Express.

In 2011, Scheffert had his best season with the Express, as he led the team in home runs with eight and tied for the lead in RBIs with 37 with Zac Fisher. He spent most of his time at first base, but can also provide help at third base, either of the corner outfield spots or even on the mound. Scheffert was also a mid-season All-Star last summer and participated in the home run derby at Wisconsin Rapids’ Witter Field.

Trowbridge is a freshman this season at Central Michigan. He is a left-handed pitcher from Mokena, Ill. As a junior in high school, he earned Chicago Catholic League all-conference honors and also earned all-area honors from the Daily Southtown and Joliet Herald.

Renzi is also a freshman for the Chippewas this season and he is a right-handed pitcher from Plainfield, Ill. He set the school record for wins, ERA and strikeouts as a junior. He participated in the Perfect Game National Showcase at Tropicana Field in Tampa, Fla., and the USSSA All-Star Japan tour.
