Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced the signing of first baseman Jimmy Risi to their roster for the 2012 season. Risi (pronounced REE-see), a junior at Butler University, is the 16th player to be named to Waterloo’s roster for the team’s 18th season. The left-handed hitter joins fellow Bulldog Kyle Kramp on the team this summer.
 
This season for Butler, Risi is hitting .333 (2-for-6) in two games played. The 5’10", 220-pounder has one RBI on the young season and has scored one run.

Last year, the Highland Park, Illinois native played at Muscatine Community College where he hit .392 with 14 home runs and 50 RBI. Risi finished the season with a .825 slugging percentage, 10 doubles, and 33 runs for the Cardinals. On April 10, Risi went 2-for-2 with two home runs, five RBI, and four runs scored versus Marshalltown Community College.

For the past two summers, Risi has played for the Des Plaines Patriots of the Metropolitan Collegiate Summer Baseball League of Illinois, suiting up for field manager and former Bucks’ coach Mike Schultz. In 2011, Risi was named an All-Star after hitting .432 with 20 RBI, a .432 slugging percentage, and a .567 on-base percentage. 
 
The Bucks will open the 2012 season at home versus the Rochester Honkers on May 30 at 6:35 pm. Season tickets and single-game tickets are currently on sale. Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks in the off-season by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com.
