ROCHESTER, Minn. (June 4, 2012) — Waterloo continues to go undefeated in 2012 and games in Battle Creek, Mich. and Madison, Wis. saw extra innings Monday night. 


St. Cloud 2, Waterloo 6

The Bucks were led by Benny Roberts (Washington State), who went 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 runs scored. The Bucks remain undefeated with a 6-0 record. The two teams match up again on Tuesday for a 6:35 p.m. start. 

Alexandria 3, Thunder Bay 7

The Border Cats rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead for good and defeat the Beetles 7-3. Matt Jones (Central Arizona) led the Border Cats by going 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. These two teams square off again on Tuesday, with an 11:05 a.m. ET start. 

La Crosse 5, Wisconsin 6

Chevas Numata’s walk-off single was the difference in this game. Numata (College of Southern Nevada) slapped a single up the middle in the bottom of the ninth for the Woodchucks to win 6-5. The same two teams will play again on Tuesday with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

Mankato 7, Duluth 8

The Huskies were able to hold off Ben Moore (Cal Baptist) and the MoonDogs by a score of 8-7. Max Duval led the Huskies by going 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and three runs scored. The MoonDogs and Huskies play again at 11:35 a.m. on Tuesday. 

Wisconsin Rapids  4, Madison 3

The Rafters second baseman Pat Kelly (Nebraska) hit an inside-the-park home run in the top of the 11th inning to give Wisconsin Rapids the eventual win, 4-3. This series continues in Wisconsin Rapids at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday. 

Eau Claire 2, Lakeshore 1

The Express spoiled Lakeshore’s inaugural home opener as they took down the Chinooks 2-1.  The Chinooks were led by starting pitcher Tyler Thicke (MATC Madison) who retired 18 straight batters after allowing just one earned run on three hits in the first, but it wasn’t enough for Lakeshore. The Chinooks host the Express again on Tuesday with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

Willmar 9, Rochester 5

Willmar recorded their first win of 2012 as they defeated the Honkers 9-5. The Stingers were led by Junior Kenny Roberts (Alabama) who cranked a three-run home run to left field to put the Stingers up for good. The two teams play again on Tuesday beginning at 7:05 p.m.

Battle Creek 7, Green Bay 9

The Bullfrogs jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Bombers rallied back throughout the game to tie the score at 7-7 in the bottom of the sixth. The eventual game-winning run came in the 11th inning on an RBI single by Nick Stein (Coe College). These two teams square off on Tuesday in Battle Creek with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.
