ROCHESTER, Minn. (June 10, 2012) — Runs were not hard to come by around the Northwoods League on Sunday and neither was the excitement. Rochester saw another walk-off home run and Duluth saw a special performance from their designated hitter.

La Crosse 7, Green Bay 2

The Loggers were led by the bat of Bobby Juan (Minnesota) who was 2-for-3 at the dish with two RBI and two runs scored. The Loggers will travel to Lakeshore on Monday to take on the red-hot Lakeshore Chinooks for a 6:35 p.m. start, while the Bullfrogs will travel to Wisconsin Rapids to play the Rafters at 7:05 p.m.

Willmar 14, Thunder Bay 2

The Stingers jumped on top early with nine runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back. Jerad McCrummen (Texas Tech) had a solid outing as he pitched seven innings allowing just two runs on six hits and striking out two. Willmar will travel to Duluth on Monday to face the Huskies with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The Border Cats will host the St. Cloud Rox at 7:05 ET.

Mankato 6, Rochester 7

The Honkers rallied for five runs in the bottom of the ninth and finished off the comeback on Reid Roper’s (Illinois) three-run walk-off home run. The Honkers will host the Waterloo Bucks on Monday at 7:05 p.m. and the MoonDogs will host the Alexandria Beetles at 7:05 p.m.

Lakeshore 9, Wisconsin Rapids 5

The Chinooks tacked on four runs in the top of the ninth when leading 5-3, which would turn out to be crucial as the Rafters added two in the bottom of the ninth. Bre Kimball (Louisiana Tech) led the Chinooks, going 2-for-5 with four RBI. Lakeshore has won four straight.

Wisconsin 5, Battle Creek 9

The Bombers scored six in the bottom of the third, which was too much for Wisconsin to overcome. The Bombers were led by Kyle Figgins (Buffalo) at the plate. He was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. The Woodchucks will host the Madison Mallards on Monday night with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. The Bombers welcome the Eau Claire Express to Battle Creek with a start time of 7:05 p.m. ET.

Duluth 16, Waterloo 3

The Huskies were led by Northwoods League Player of the Night Michael Suiter (Kansas). Suiter was 3-for-4 with six RBI and two runs scored at the plate for the Huskies. Suiter started his day with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning and added to that with a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning.

Madison 4, Eau Claire 3

The Mallards’ John Hamilton (UNC-Charlotte) escaped a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth to help Madison prevail 4-3.
