ST. CLOUD, Minn. (June 27, 2012) — The Arizona Wildcats won the 2012 College World Series on Monday night and a member of the St. Cloud Rox now has a shiny new ring to wear to Minnesota. Freshman pitcher Lucas Long of Minneapolis pitched in nine games this season for the Wildcats logged 25 innings pitched.

The 6’1” righty is expected to join the Rox in early July. Following the arrival of Elvin Soto (Pittsburgh) on June 26th, Long represents the last player to arrive in Minnesota after his team’s college season. Long will wear #3 for St. Cloud upon his arrival in the Granite City.

Speaking on Twitter following his team’s win, Long (luclong11) called the victory a “dream come true” and added he “couldn’t ask for a better group of teammates.”

Rox general manager Wes Sharp said “Adding a pitcher of Long’s caliber certainly gives us enviable depth at the pitcher position. Not only that, but he brings a champion’s mentality and experience with him to the Northwoods League, which cannot be underestimated.”

The Rox are home Thursday and Friday night for games against the Rochester Honkers. Thursday night features Deuces Wild! Dueling Pianos by Preferred One with live music throughout the game. Of course, Friday’s game features post-game fireworks presented by CarCo. Tickets start at just $6 and can be purchased at www.stcloudrox.com/tickets.
