ROCHESTER, Minn. (July 19, 2012) – The Mallards gained some ground in the South Division while they ended the Woodchucks’ winning streak. 

Mankato 14, Rochester 2

The MoonDogs were led by Chase Simpson (Oklahoma) who was 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBI and three runs scored. The Honkers will host the St. Cloud Rox on Friday at 7:05 p.m. while the MoonDogs will travel to Duluth for a 7:05 p.m. start. 

St. Cloud 3, Waterloo 7

Waterloo was led by the pitching effort of Jake Powers (Missouri State). Powers threw 8.2 innings three runs and striking out 10 St. Cloud batters. The Bucks will travel to Alexandria for a 7:05 p.m. start on Friday. 

Thunder Bay 2, Duluth 4

Wade Wass (Meridian CC) went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. He also picked up his second home run of the season. Thunder Bay will host the Willmar Stingers on Friday for a 7:05 p.m. ET start. 

Willmar 5, Alexandria 1

Michael Suchy (Florida Gulf Coast) went 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored. He also picked up his tenth double of the season. 

Madison 10, Wisconsin 0

Matt LaMothe (Georgia College and State) threw seven shutout innings and struck out six to help the Mallards end Wisconsin’s streak. The Woodchucks will host the Eau Claire Express on Friday for a 6:35 p.m. start. The Mallards will travel to Battle Creek to face the Bombers for a 7:05 p.m. ET start. 

Wisconsin Rapids 8, Green Bay 6

Josh Cyr (North Alabama) went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. He also picked up his third home run of the season. The Bullfrogs will host the Lakeshore Chinooks on Friday at 7:05 p.m. and the Rafters will travel to La Crosse to take on the Loggers at 7:05 p.m. 

La Crosse 1, Eau Claire 9

Casey Gillaspie (Wichita State) was 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored to help the Express to the win. 

Battle Creek 2, Lakeshore 8

 

Ryan Krill (Michigan State) went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Joe Greenfield (South Suburban College) threw 7.2 shutout innings and struck out seven for Lakeshore.
