ROCHESTER, Minn. (July 22, 2012) – On the last day before the 2012 All-Star Break, the Mallards extended their winning streak to four games to stay on the tails of the Woodchucks in the South. 


It continues to be the battle of the dogs in the North Division as the MoonDogs have won two straight to come within a game and a half of the Huskies who have dropped two straight. The Stingers are also quietly sitting a game and a half back of first place. 


Mankato 5, Duluth 3


Craig Massoni (Chabot College) picked up his eighth home run of the season and now has 21 RBI on the season. He finished Sunday by going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. 


Waterloo 12, Alexandria 11


Jason Hockemeyer (Evansville) went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored for the Bucks. He also drew two walks from the Alexandria pitching staff and now has six doubles and 14 RBI on the season. 


Willmar 6, Thunder Bay 9


Brett Kay (Illinois State) hit double number 12 on the season as he went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored to help the Border Cats take down the Stingers. 


Rochester 6, St. Cloud 7


After trailing 6-1 at one point, the Rox came all the way back and were able to take the game into extra innings. Adam Martin (Western Carolina) hit a walk-off RBI double to center field to give the Rox the win in the bottom of the tenth inning. 


Madison 5, Battle Creek 0


Daniel Gibson (Florida) threw six shutout innings and allowed just one hit, while striking out eight batters, to do his part to shut down the Bombers in the 5-0 win. 


Wisconsin Rapids 2, La Crosse 5


Jimmy Bosco (Arkansas) went 2-for-4 with and RBI and a run scored to help the Loggers on Sunday. He also picked up his fourth home run and 13th RBI of the season.


Eau Claire 3, Wisconsin 12


Mike Bernal (Oklahoma State) was 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored for the Woodchucks in their big win. Bernal now has 17 RBI on the season. 


Green Bay 2, Lakeshore 4

 

Eric Aguilera (Illinois State) went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored for the Chinooks. He picked up his 21st double of the season and his fourth home run.   


The 2012 Northwoods League All-Star Game festivities kick off on Monday, July 23, the day before the game. At 6 pm it’s the NWL All-Star Steak and Lobster Dinner featuring Guest Speaker, Milwaukee Brewers President of Operations and General Manager Doug Melvin. On Tuesday, July 24, fans can come out to the park before the game for the Northwoods League Home Run Derby, which begins at 6 pm at “The Duck Pond”, preceding the 7:35 pm first pitch for the 18th annual NWL All-Star Game.

 

The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America.
