ROCHESTER, Minn. (July 26, 2012) – After a fun was had by all during the Northwoods League All Star Break, the action returned in grand fashion on Thursday. 

The Stingers would gain a game on the Duluth Huskies to pull within a half game for the North Division lead. Their leadoff hitter, Forrestt Allday (Central Arkansas) also broke the NWL record for walks in a season as he drew three on Thursday. 

Alexandria 6, Mankato 3

Ben Moore (Alabama) drove in two runs to continue to lead the league in RBIs with 59 on the season and help the Beetles to the victory. The MoonDogs will host the Beetles again on Friday for a 7:05 p.m. start. 

Waterloo 5, Rochester 8

Brandon Defazio (College of San Mateo) went 2-for-4 with a home run for Rochester in their win over the Bucks. The Honkers will host the Bucks on Friday to finish their series with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. 

St. Cloud 10, Thunder Bay 11

Jerrick Suiter (TCU) went 2-for-4 with three RBI as the Border Cats held off the Rox, 11-10. Thunder Bay and St. Cloud will meet again on Friday for a first pitch time of 7:05 p.m. ET. 

Duluth 6, Willmar 9

The Huskies attempted a comeback with three runs in the top of the ninth, but could not come all the way back. Forrestt Allday (Central Arkansas) broke the Northwoods League record for walks in a season when he took first base on balls for the 61st time in this one. Willmar will host the Huskies again on Friday for a 7:05 p.m. start. 

Battle Creek 1, La Crosse 4

Josh Frye (Long Beach State) earned his first win of the season by throwing six innings and allowing just one run on three hits and striking out 10 Bombers. The Loggers host the Bombers on Friday for a 7:05 p.m. start. 

Green Bay 2, Wisconsin 4

Austin Pettibone (USCB) threw five innings and allowed just one run on five hits while striking out five to earn his second win of the season. The Woodchucks and Bullfrogs will play again on Friday at 6:35 p.m. 

Lakeshore 2, Eau Claire 12

 

Jimmy Allen (Cal Poly) went 2-for-5 at the dish with two runs scored to help the Express in their blowout. He also picked up his second home run of the season. On Friday the Express will host the Chinooks for a 6:35 p.m. start.

Madison 10, Wisconsin Rapids 2

Jeff Zimmerman (Northern Illinois) hit his ninth home run with a grand slam in the top of the seventh inning to help the Mallards beat the Rafters. The series will shift to Madison on Friday for a 7:05 p.m. start.
