Boston College Freshman Clouthier was member of Canadian Junior National Team from 2010-12
Wisconsin Rapids, WI- Thursday, December 13th. The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters announced the signings of two high-profile pitchers for the 2013 season. Canadian native Michael Clouthier (Boston College) will join Mike Mestdagh (Michigan State) in Wisconsin Rapids next summer.
RHP-Michael Clouthier, 6’3”, 210 lbs (R/R) Freshman, Boston College
Clouthier will begin his freshman season with Boston College in the spring of 2013 after a banner prep career at Bishop MacDonnell Catholic high school in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. While at Bishop MacDonnell, Clouthier was an honor roll student all four years and was the recipient of the Ambassador Award of Distinction for Academic and Athletic Excellence in 2012. He was chosen as the 2009-10 junior male high school athlete of the year while also earning all-city honors during that same time.
Sporting a fastball clocked in the low to mid 90’s and a devastating slider, Clouthier earned an invitation to play on the Canadian Junior National team from 2010 through 2012, while also playing for the Ontario Terriers during the 2011 and 2012 seasons as well. The Terriers are a traveling summer team that attends showcases and tournaments providing exposure to scouts and recruiters across the nation. He helped his team win a gold medal at the Canada Cup National Championship in 2011 and a silver medal in 2010 with Team Ontario.
RHP-Mike Mestdagh, 6’1”, 205 lbs (R/R) Sophomore, Michigan State
Mike Mestdagh will embark on his second season with the Spartans in the spring after appearing in five games out of the Michigan State bullpen as a freshman. In 4.1 innings he struck out 5 batters in his 2012 collegiate debut.
Mestdagh was a three-year letter winner at Birmingham Groves High School, where he served as a captain his senior year and led Groves to a 24-7 overall record and Oakland Activities Association Blue Division title. As a senior, he posted an 8-2 record with a stingy 0.83 ERA, striking out 72 batters in just 42 innings. His junior season he collected five wins, four saves, and struck out 65 batters in 47 innings pitched, posting a 1.01 ERA. His performance on the mound earned him 2011 Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association Division I All-State Second Team accolades. He was also named to the Blue Division First Team and All-Oakland County Team. MichiganBaseballProspects.org rated Mestdagh as the No. 7 prospect in the state for the Class of 2011.
