Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Aaron Rhodes to their roster for the 2013 season. Rhodes, a freshman at the University of Florida, is the 13th player to be named to Waterloo’s roster for the team’s 19th season.

Rhodes redshirted last season for the Gators. This year, the 6’0", 190-pounder has appeared in two games for Florida, striking out two in three innings. Rhodes, a native of Venice, Florida, currently holds a 6.00 ERA.

"Aaron is coming off an injury from last year that did not allow him to throw so his desire to get back into competition is going to be high," said Bucks manager Travis Kiewiet. "He is a guy that throws from a 3/4 arm slot and has a sweeping slider which makes him very tough on right hand hitters. Aaron is going to be counted on to shut down hitters in the late innings of the game for us this summer."

Born September 24, 1992, Rhodes attended Venice High School where he compiled an 11-4 record with a 1.07 ERA during his prep career. During his senior year, Rhodes collected five wins and had a school-record five saves, earning All-State recognition in Class 5A.

The Bucks will open the 2013 season at home versus the St. Cloud Rox on May 29. Season tickets, group outings, and single-game tickets are currently on sale.
