Madison, WI – April 30, 2013. The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of infielders Geonte Jackson from San Jacinto Community College and Jeff Zahn from Indiana State University for the 2013 season.

Jackson, a 6’0," 170-pound freshman from Sugarland, Texas, is batting .327 with one home run and 28 RBIs for San Jacinto. He has team highs in hits (52) and games played (41).
Jackson attended Fort Bend Elkins High School in Missouri City, Texas, and hit .347 with one home run, 16 RBIs and a .387 on-base percentage during his senior campaign. During his junior season in 2011, he hit .412 with three home runs, 25 RBIs and a .394 on-base percentage while earning 2nd Team All-District honors. He batted .301 with 34 runs scored and 22 RBIs during his sophomore season in 2010.
Zahn, a 6’3," 200-pound redshirt freshman from Newburgh, Indiana, is batting .137 for the Sycamores in 2013. He has played in 22 games, starting 14 of them. Zahn has been stellar defensively, and hasn’t committed an error this season.

Zahn attended Castle High School in Newburgh, Indiana, and was a three-year letterwinner. He was ranked as the No. 22 prospect in the state by Prep Baseball Report. He hit .431 with four home runs and 26 RBIs during his senior year, earning all-conference honors. He also received all-conference accolades during his junior season.
The Mallards will host their season opener against the Eau Claire Express on May 29th at 7:05 pm at the "Duck Pond." Single-game tickets are on-sale now!
The Madison Mallards are part of the 16-team Northwoods League. The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America. In 2013, the Northwoods League will celebrate its 20th season.
