Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced the signing of outfielder Austin Pernell to their roster for the 2013 season. Pernell, a freshman at Washington State University, is the fourth outfielder added to Waterloo’s roster for the team’s 19th season.
This year for the Cougars, Pernell is hitting .305 with eight RBI in 33 games. The 5’10", 191-pounder owns a .379 on-base percentage to go along with three stolen bases.
"Austin is a quick, electric kid," said Bucks general manager Dan Corbin. "Austin fits very well for us. He has outstanding character, is a big-time makeup guy, and his teammates will love him on the field and off. His skill set is something that we were looking for. You talk about a defensive ballhawk . . . he appeals to us because of both his defensive and offensive skill set."
Originally from Kent, Washington, Pernell lettered in baseball, football, and basketball at Kentlake High School. In 2011, Pernell was named an All-League first team outfielder. Born August 20, 1994, Austin is the son of Garcia and Marcia Pernell.

The Bucks will open the 2013 season at home versus the St. Cloud Rox on May 29. Season tickets, group outings, and single-game tickets are currently on sale.
