BATTLE CREEK, MI- The Battle Creek Bombers have announced the signing of Fresno – California Community College outfielder Jackson Gilnes.

Jackson Gilnes: 6’0” – 185lb, B/L-T/L, OF, Fresno CC (So.), Oakhurst, Calif.

Gilnes, in his second year at Fresno Community College, plans to transfer to Michigan in the fall to play for the Wolverines in the Big Ten Conference. He graduated from Yosemite High School in Oakhurst, California in 2011.

In 38 games for Fresno this season, Gilnes is hitting .380 with four home runs, 29 RBIs, 47 runs scored, and nine stolen bases. Gilnes leads the entire Central Valley Conference in batting average, hits, runs, on base percentage, and slugging percentage, plate appearances, and total bases.

Gilnes hit .494 as a sophomore at Yosemite High School. The two-sport athlete dominated the basketball ranks as well averaging seven points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block per game. 

Gilnes and the rest of the Fresno squad are dominating conference play thus far recording a 20-4 record that tops the Central Valley Conference by four games over any other opponent. His time in Battle Creek will introduce him to his soon-to-be teammate at Michigan, pitcher, Cam Wysocki.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in America.
