Rochester, Minn (June 3rd, 2013)–A weekend that featured offense turned over and led into a week that started with some great pitching performances. Losing teams combined for just 17 runs on the night, which is an average of just about 2 runs per game.

A day after winning their home opener, the La Crosse Loggers were shut out by the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. Meanwhile in Waterloo, the Bucks were able to hold the Alexandria Blue Anchors to one run on the night.

The Willmar Stingers got yet another great start out of their pitching staff on Monday. TJ Whidby (Central Arizona College) went 7.1 IP and allowed only a single run.

Wisconsin 8, Eau Claire 3

Matt Tellor (Southeast Missouri) just keeps adding to his RBI total on the season, as he drove in four more runs in the win, which gives him 13 RBI in five games. Tyler Steib (San Joaquin Delta) had another great night out of the lead off spot, collecting three hits.

Duluth 6, St. Cloud 3

Nick Saathoff (Harvard) cleared the bases with a double in a five-run sixth inning for the Huskies. Four different relievers made appearances and did not allow a run in their 3.2 IP on Monday.

Waterloo 9, Alexandria 1

J.T. Miller (Wabash College) turned in a great outing against the Blue Anchors. In six innings of work, he allowed just one run and struck out four hitters. The Bucks’ offense used a balanced attack to drive in nine runs as six different players recorded RBI.

Battle Creek 6, Lakeshore 2

The Bomber pitching staff limited the Chinooks yet again, yielding zero earned runs while striking out 12 batters. Cam Gibson (Michigan State) had a solid game at the top of the lineup, collecting two hits while driving in a pair and scoring twice.

Willmar 5, Rochester 1

The Stingers got another great pitching outing on Monday as TJ Whidby (Central Arizona College) allowed only one run and five hits in 7.1 IP while striking out four. The Stingers also had five hitters with multi-hit games.

Wisconsin Rapids 4, La Crosse 0

After losing the opener in the series, the Rafters bounced back for the win on Monday. Brad Stroik (UW-Stevens Point) was able to work around five walks and surrendered no earned runs in 6 IP.

Thunder Bay 3, Mankato 2 (F/10)

After getting ten innings where the pitching staff allowed only one earned run, the Border Cats were able to walk off in the bottom of the tenth inning. Jason Vosler (Northeastern) knocked in the winning run with a base hit.

Green Bay 7, Madison 5

With a 6-2 lead heading into the eighth inning, the Bullfrogs got a bit of a scare when the Mallards plated three runs. However, the ‘Frogs were able to get a run of their own in the bottom of the frame and would hold on for the win. Kevin Nutley (St. Norbert College) turned in a solid performance with only one earned run allowed in six innings.
