Rochester, Minn (June 5th, 2013)–Wednesday’s action was highlighted by one of the best pitching duels the league has ever seen. In a 14-inning affair, the Lakeshore Chinooks emerged victorious over the Eau Claire Express in a 1-0 victoy.

In other action, La Crosse was able to come away with a sweep in a double header against Green Bay with a total run tally of 18 to eight.

In the first game of the double header between La Crosse and Green Bay, Steve Hagen (Wooster College) pitched a complete-game shutout.

La Crosse 5, Green Bay 0 (Game 1, F/7)

Steve Hagen pitched a complete-game shutout against the ‘Frogs. He pitched all seven innings and allowed only one hit while striking out five batters.

La Crosse 13, Green Bay 8 (Game 2, F/7)

The Loggers recorded 13 runs on 13 hits in the game two victory. Mike Nadratowski (Grand Valley State) went two-for-five with a pair of RBI in the win.

Battle Creek vs. Wisconsin (suspended)

This game will be resumed as part of a double header on the fourth of July. The Woodchucks will hold a 2-0 lead and the game will resume in the top of the 2nd inning.

Willmar 4, Thunder Bay 3

The Stingers won on a walk-off sacrifice fly in the ninth inning on Wednesday. Coming off of his second pitcher of the night performance, Steven Brault (Regis) hit the fly ball that drove in the winning run. The Willmar pitching staff was able to record 12 strikeouts in the win.

Mankato 7, Rochester 2

The Moon Dogs got scoring started early with a three-run first inning that wound up being the difference in the game. Cameron Giannini (Southern Mississippi) went six innings and allowed only one run on six hits.

St. Cloud 7, Alexandria 5

Devin Pearson (California) knocked in two runs with a double in the decisive four-run third inning. The Rox moved back up over the .500 mark with the win. Kyle Davis (Colorado Mesa) held the Blue Anchors in check with three runs in six innings.

Duluth 5, Waterloo 3

After getting down a run in the first, the Huskies scored four runs in the next two innings and never looked back. Aaron Hernandez (Kansas) scored a pair of runs and collected a hit in the victory.

Lakeshore 1, Eau Claire 0 (F/14)

This game was about one thing: pitching. Between the two teams, the pitching line was:

Chris Manning (Valporaiso) ended the madness in the 14th inning with a walk-off single.

Madison 4, Wisconsin Rapids 2

With the game tied going into the eigth, the Mallards plated two runs to take a late lead on a single from Mike Reuvekamp (California). The Mallards bullpen combined for 5.1 IP and 0 ER in the victory.
