Rochester, Minn (June 14th, 2013)–After the St. Cloud Rox and Thunder Bay Border Cats combined for 36 runs in their game on Thursday, Friday’s slate of games sure had a lot to live up to. With a bunch of great performances and close games, it’s fair to say that Friday brought a bunch of entertainment value.

In Willmar, the Stingers got a complete game effort from Abe Bobb (San Francisco). What’s more impressive is that this one-run performance came against the very St. Cloud offense that had scored 24 runs the previous day.

In Green Bay, Drew Weeks (North Florida) drove in seven RBI and collected three extra-base hits in a big win over the Green Bay Bullfrogs.

Wisconsin Rapids 3, Wisconsin 2

Brad Stroik (US-Stevens Point) had a great start for the Rafters as he went seven innings and allowed only two runs. Stroik limited the Woodchucks to just five hits and a walk on the night. For the Woodchucks, Matt Tellor (Southeast Missouri) hit his fourth home run of the year and now has 26 RBI.

La Crosse 4, Eau Claire 2 (F/11)

The Loggers picked up their 12th win on the season on Friday in a narrow victory over Eau Claire. After blowing their one-run lead in the 8th, the Loggers were able to score twice in the top of the 12th to grab the win. The two starters on the night combined for 15 IP and just four runs on nine hits.

Madison 14, Green Bay 4

Nobody could touch Drew Weeks (North Florida) on Friday. He went 4/5 with three runs and seven RBI in a big win for the Mallards. On the mound, the Mallards used five different pitchers to limit the Bullfrogs to just two earned runs on six hits.

Lakeshore 9, Battle Creek 2

The league-leading Chinooks won again on Friday behind another great offensive output. Ryan Krill (Michigan State) was 2/4 with four RBI and two runs scored including a pair of home runs. The Chinooks are tied with the Loggers atop the Northwoods South division.

Duluth 5, Waterloo 3

After getting up 1-0 in the first, the Huskies didn’t score again until the 7th, where they found themselves down 3-1. Fortunately for the Huskies, they were able to score in each of the last three innings of the game en route to the win. The Huskies’ pitching staff was great on the night as they allowed no earned runs in nine innings of work.

Rochester 4, Thunder Bay 2

The Border Cats were involved in a much more pitching-friendly affair on Friday night as they took on the Rochester Honkers. Unfortunately for Thunder Bay, they would come out on the losing side of things yet again. Matt Kent (Texas A&M) was great on the mound as he pitched seven innings and allowed just one run on three hits.

Mankato 10, Alexandria 7

The MoonDogs scored five times in the first inning, but that didn’t stop the Blue Anchors from trying to come back. Trailing 7-1 after three innings, Alexandria scored five times in the fourth to make it a one-run game. In the 8th inning, the MoonDogs were able to score three times and hold on for the 10-7 win.

Willmar 6, St. Cloud 1

A day can make a world of difference in the world of baseball, and it didn’t happen in a good way for St. Cloud. Abe Bobb (San Francisco) pitched a complete game allowing only one run on seven hits for the Stingers on Friday.
