Rochester, Minn (June 24th, 2013)–While many teams had the night off on Monday, the six that played provided plenty of excitement for fans. This came through a couple of close games and a group of solid individual performances. Two of Monday’s games were decided by a lone run.

Madison 13, Wisconsin Rapids 3

Luke Staub (George Washington) was the star on the mound on Monday as he blanked the Rafters over his seven innings of work. More impressively, the righty from Peoria, Illinois struck out ten batters and only allowed two hits. On offense, Drew Weeks (North Florida) continued his strong season with a pair of hits and four RBI.

Alexandria 7, St. Cloud 6

The Blue Anchors got all of their RBI from spots two through five in the order on Monday night. Albert Bauer (Newberry College) did the bulk of the damage by collecting three hits and driving in a pair out of the cleanup spot. The Blue Anchors used six different pitchers out of the bullpen on Monday to pitch over the last seven innings of the game. The last five pitchers combined for six innings, three hits, and no runs allowed.

Thunder Bay 13, Mankato 12

The Border Cats took a 9-5 lead into the 9th inning, and then things got a little crazy. The two teams combined for 11 9th inning runs as a big rally from Mankato fell just short. Tyler Duplantis (Nicholls State) had a huge night as he collected five hits, three runs, and three RBI in the win. The two teams will play each other Tuesday afternoon at 1:05.
