St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud Rox’ Vice President Scott Schreiner announced Tuesday that Rox’ field manager Augie Rodriguez has signed a contract extension to come back in 2014.
Rodriguez has been the Rox’ field manager since the start of the organization in 2012 where he led the Rox to a memorable inaugural season. Narrowly missing the playoffs late in the season they finished their last 10 games 7-3. St. Cloud had a great second half of their season going 20-16, finishing third in the North Division.
This past season Rodriguez led the Rox to an overall record of 36-34 and finished their last 10 games of the 2013 season 6-4. The Rox posted a 22-13 record in the second half, finishing third in the North Division for the second straight year under Rodriguez.
“Augie is a tireless worker who is determined to help bring Central Minnesota a Northwoods League championship,” said Vice President Scott Schreiner. “I think 2014 will prove to be an exciting season under Augie’s leadership.”
“Once again, I want to thank the owners, fans, players, and my assistant coaches for a very special 2013 season,” said field manager Augie Rodriguez.
“I am excited to say that I will be part of the 2014 St. Cloud Rox as field manager, with the ultimate goal of a Northwoods League Championship. I am excited for another opportunity to provide the city of St. Cloud, Rox fans, and players with the most energetic season ever.”
The Rox will also be extending the contracts of assistant coaches Anthony Espitia and Tristan Toorie. Like Rodriguez, Espitia will be returning for his third season with the Rox. Toorie will be entering his second season.
Over 53,000 fans watched Rox baseball in 2013 at Joe Faber Field. Season tickets for 2014 can be purchased by calling the Rox Baseball Office at (320) 240-9798.
