November 15th event set to unveil team’s name, ballpark renovations and more
Kalamazoo Baseball LLC, the group bringing a Northwoods League baseball franchise to Kalamazoo in 2014, is throwing a “Baseball is Back in Kalamazoo!” event at Homer Stryker Field on Friday, November 15th at 5pm. The event and press conference will be held indoor at the teams’ front office and Parks and Recreation building and conference center.

This free event is open to the public and will include:
•Unveiling of the team name and logo
•Unveiling of the renovation plans to Homer Stryker Field
•Unveiling of the team manager and coaches (including appearance)
•Unveiling of the team’s first two players (including appearance)
There will be free ballpark food and drinks for fans in attendance along with games and family entertainment. There will also be FREE prize raffles for fans in attendance including autographed memorabilia from Northwood League alums such as Detroit Tiger’s Max Scherzer, New York Yankees Curtis Granderson, and many more. This will also be the first opportunity for fans to purchase official team merchandise and season tickets.
In two weeks, Kalamazoo Baseball’s #NameYourTeam contest generated more than 750 submissions, 326 different name suggestions, and 3,000 votes from the Kalamazoo community.
Kalamazoo Baseball is a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 21st season of summer collegiate baseball, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 115 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including MLB All-Stars Max Scherzer (DET), Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS), Curtis Granderson (NYY), Allen Craig (STL) and Ben Zobrist (TB).
