Chinooks Add Nelson and Schweitz to Front Office
 
The Lakeshore Chinooks are happy to announce the recent hiring of Jacob Nelson and Emily Schweitz to the front office staff.

Nelson will become the organization’s assistant sales manager. He will assist with the Chinooks ticket sales and operations focusing on bringing in new clients for group outings and season tickets as well as new sponsorship opportunities. Schweitz will be the Chinooks special projects coordinator. She will assist with planning for the 2014 Northwoods League All-Star Game, sponsorship fulfillment, merchandise, mascot/player appearances, and donation requests.

“We are very excited to have both Jacob and Emily join our organization. They will both be great additions to our front office and their experience with the Chinooks organization will be very beneficial,” stated Chinooks sales manager Eric Snodgrass.

Jacob Nelson has been with the Chinooks the past two seasons. During the Chinooks’ inaugural season, Jacob served as a sales intern. Last season, he accepted a seasonal position as a sales associate. Nelson’s experience with the Chinooks ticket sales and operations as well as working with groups and season ticket holders the past two summers made him an ideal candidate to be the organization’s assistant sales manager. Before the Chinooks, Jacob interned with the Greenville Astros (Houston Astros rookie ball affiliate) as an operations assistant and spent an off-season with the Normal CornBelters (Frontier League) as a ticket sales assistant. Nelson also currently works part-time for the Milwaukee Brewers in the day of game sales office. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a major in Recreation, Sport and Tourism. He is originally from Urbana, Illinois.

Emily Schweitz was with the Lakeshore Chinooks this past summer. She served as an intern on the team’s operations staff. While attending the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse, Emily was an intern with the athletic department. She helped with planning the NCAA Division III outdoor track and field national track championships. A swimmer for UWL, Schweitz now coaches the boy’s swim team at Nicolet High School. She graduated from the La Crosse with a major in Exercise Sports Science; Sports Management. She is originally from Fox Point, WI.

The Lakeshore Chinooks are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 21st season of summer collegiate baseball, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 115 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including MLB All-Stars Max Scherzer (DET), Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS), Curtis Granderson (NYY), Allen Craig (STL) and Ben Zobrist (TB).
