Bucks Sign Pitcher from Florida Gulf Coast
Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks have announced that left-handed pitcher TJ Peterson has signed to play with Waterloo for the 2014 season. Peterson, a redshirt freshman at Florida Gulf Coast University, is the seventh player to be named to the Bucks’ roster for the team’s 20th season.
“TJ could bolster our bullpen and give us some depth as a starter,” said Waterloo general manager Dan Corbin. “He has a high three-quarter release point and can drop lower at times. TJ’s fastball sits in the upper 80’s and has good run and sink. We think TJ has a bright future with the Bucks and beyond.”
Last season, the 6’5”, 240-pounder redshirted for the Eagles. Originally from Plant City, Florida, Peterson is the fourth pitcher to sign with Waterloo for the summer. Born July 16, 1994, Peterson attended Plant City High School where he was named First Team All-County during his junior year. TJ is the son of Dale and Lori Peterson.
The Bucks will open the 2014 season on the road versus the Rochester Honkers on May 27, but return to Waterloo for their home opener versus Rochester on May 28.
