A Trio of LSU Tigers Coming to Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, MI-The Battle Creek Bombers have announced the signing of three LSU Tigers to their 2014 roster.  Andrew Mitchell (LHP), Cade Stone (OF), and Alden Cartwright (RHP) will be welcome additions to the Bombers for the upcoming season.

Andrew Mitchell, a freshman, is a 6’0” left handed pitcher from New Orleans.  He previously played ball at Jesuit High School where he posted a 1.34 ERA in 36.2 innings of work including 51 strikeouts in 2013.  Bombers Manager Dan Trivett is excited to bring him in stating “Andrew brings to Battle Creek a great young arm, with pitch ability and intelligence.  Andrew will be another valuable ingredient to our strong staff this summer in Battle Creek.”

Cade Stone, a West Monroe native, is a freshman outfielder who was named a 2013 Perfect Game All-American. Stone brings plus speed to the outfield and will be an asset on the bases as well.  Stone has a plethora of accolades from high school including; All-Districts all 4 seasons, All Northeastern Louisiana, All District MVP and All State honors his freshman and senior seasons. Coach Trivett is excited about Stone’s addition to the roster noting, “Cade will be looked upon to bring a lot of energy, speed, and leadership to Battle Creek this summer.”  

Rounding out the trio from Baton Rouge is Alden Cartwright.  Alden, a freshman right handed pitcher, played his high school ball for the national powerhouse Runnels High School. While there he racked up 18 Wins to go along with 10 Saves.  Cartwright posted a career 3.62 ERA with 344 strikeouts and only 94 walks.  Alden was a 2012 First-team All-State and State District MVP in Louisiana. Coach Trivett is excited about the addition to the staff, “Alden is going to be a reliable and dependable factor for our staff as both a reliever and a starter.” Head Coach Trivett added about the trio, “When building a winning organization the objective is to add intelligent and hardworking men of character.  That is what we are able to do with the addition of these three Tigers from LSU.”

General Manager Tony Iovieno is also excited about the Tigers coming to town. “Year after year, LSU Baseball finds and cultivates some of the top talents out there.  I’m more than thrilled to add three of these impressive talents to our 2014 roster.”

The Battle Creek Bombers are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 21st  season of summer collegiate baseball, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
