Blue Anchors Sign Blake Bass
Alexandria-MN – The Alexandria Blue Anchors, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced the signing of RHP/ 1B Blake Bass for the 2014 season.
Bass, who is originally from Lubbock, TX, is currently a junior at Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX.
“Blake will give us some versatility in our lineup. He is a kid that has the ability to both pitch and play first base,” says GM Kendall Hughson. “We look for a strong spring from Blake and look for him to carry that into our season.”
Bass started his career at Texas Tech University before transferring to Angelo State. Early on this season Blake has fared well hitting .278 at the plate through four games, and he has also pitched one scoreless inning.
“I am excited to get an opportunity to play with the Blue Anchors this season,” says Bass. “It has been a dream and a goal of mine to play in the league, and I am looking forward to the summer and the opportunities that come with it.”
Blake is the son of Troy and Barbara, and when his playing career is over he hopes to work in the physical therapy field.
The Blue Anchors will start the 2014 season on Tuesday May 27th at home versus the Mankato MoonDogs.
