~~Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks have announced that catcher Adam Dennison has signed to play with Waterloo for the 2014 season. Dennison, a junior at Eastern Michigan University, is the 14th player to be named to the Bucks’ roster for the team’s 20th season.
Dennison sat out last season for the Eagles due to injury, receiving a medical redshirt. In 2012, the 6’1”, 200-pounder played in 29 games, hitting .253 with a double and six RBI.
“Adam was in line to play with us last summer but an arm injury sidelined him and he ended up having Tommy John surgery,” said Bucks’ field manager Travis Kiewiet. “When I talked to Adam this fall, he made the comment that he had followed our season throughout the summer and was disappointed he wasn't able to be a part of what we accomplished. I'm excited that Adam will get that chance again to come to Waterloo and play for us. The catching position in the Northwoods League is very demanding and Adam sounds like a player that will be able to handle the workload. I really like what Coach [Jay] Alexander is doing there at Eastern Michigan and I know Adam will come to us ready to play.”
This season for the Eagles, the Broadview Heights, Ohio native is hitting .167 with two RBI in three games. Eastern Michigan opened the season with a victory over #16 Clemson this past Friday, before dropping the final two games of the series to the Tigers.
Born September 16, 1991, Dennison attended Padua Franciscan High School where he was a four-year letter winner in baseball. Dennison was named the North Coast League MVP his senior year, hitting .484. Adam is the son of Mark and Sherrie Dennison.
The Bucks will open the 2014 season on the road versus the Rochester Honkers on May 27, but return to Waterloo for their home opener versus Rochester on May 28.
