Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks have announced that right-handed pitcher Adam Bray has signed to play with Waterloo for the 2014 season. Bray, a junior at South Dakota State University, is the 15th player to be named to the Bucks’ roster for the team’s 20th season.
This season for the Jackrabbits, Bray is 2-0 with a 3.65 ERA and nine strikeouts. The 6’2”, 210-pounder was named the Summit League Pitcher of the Week for his efforts during the opening weekend of collegiate play this year. Bray limited Texas Southern to one run on three hits with six strikeouts in 6.1 innings in an 11-1 SDSU win on February 14.
“I am very excited to be a part of such a great organization and team this upcoming summer,” said Bray. “I have heard great things about the Bucks and can't want to keep the great tradition going.”
Last season, Bray earned second-team All-Summit League honors after striking out 41 and finishing with a 7-2 record. A native of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Bray ended the year with a 3.19 ERA and appeared in 14 games.
“When you look at Adam, what he’s been able to do at South Dakota State is special,” said Bucks’ general manager Dan Corbin. “We expect him to come into Waterloo and fit right in with our starting rotation.”
Born April 14, 1993, Bray attended Eden Prairie High School where he compiled a combined 14-1 record in 2010 and 2011, striking out 84 over 89.1 innings. Adam is the son of Daniel and Mari Bray.
The Bucks will open the 2014 season on the road versus the Rochester Honkers on May 27, but return to Waterloo for their home opener versus Rochester on May 28.
