Chinooks Add More SEC Flavor with Dawgs & Hogs

Mequon, WI – The Lakeshore Chinooks will welcome a pair of Georgia Bulldogs in Zack Bowers and Connor Jones and a pair of Arkansas Razorbacks in Matt Brown and James Teague to the team’s 2014 roster. With the highly competitive nature of the Southeastern Conference, all four players will look to be significant contributors as the Chinooks look to return to the Northwoods Playoffs this summer!

Zack Bowers, a 6’1", 210 pound catcher from Acworth, GA is a main cog in the Georgia line-up for former Kent St. head coach Scott Stricklin, who took over in Athens this season. In his freshman season, the powerful Bowers led the Bulldogs with six home runs and hit .240 while knocking in 18 runs. The Harrison H.S. grad is off to solid start this season by hitting .286 in his first ten starts behind the plate.

Connor Jones is a 6’3" left-handed pitcher from Johns Creek H.S. (GA) who was rated as the top lefty in Georgia by Perfect Game and selected as a third team All-American. Jones was also selected by Perfect Game to their All Southeast Region 1st Team after leading his team to the state semifinals. Prior to a season-ending injury, Jones struck out an amazing 56 batters in 26 innings. Jones projects to have a great future on the Georgia pitching staff.

Matt Brown is a corner infielder from St. Louis, MO where he played at Vianney H.S. and was named the All-Metro Catholic Player of the Year.  The 6’3" Brown hit .400, belting 6 home runs and knocking in 40 runs. He was selected to the USA Today All-Missouri Honorable Mention Team and was named to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch All-Metro first team. Matt also played football and hockey and follows in the collegiate baseball footsteps of his father, Scott, who played at Illinois State.

James Teague will battle for opportunities with the nationally-ranked Razorbacks, who are off to a 6-0 start. As a 6’0" right-handed pitcher for Bartlesville H.S. (OK), Teague earned first team All-State and All-Metro honors after posting a 9-1 record with a 1.05 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 52.2 innings. As a senior, Teague was elected to play for the North All-Stars in the Oklahoma All-Star Game.
