Gaa and Godinez Heading to Kenosha this Summer
Kenosha, Wis. — The Kenosha Kingfish have announced the signing of two Bradley University Braves for this summer. The Kingfish have signed freshman infielder Spencer Gaa and redshirt sophomore infielder Chris Godinez.
Gaa, a 6’2”, 170-pound native of Metamora, Illinois will join the Kingfish after his first season in Peoria with the Braves. Currently this season starring at third base, Gaa has made 33 appearances including 32 starts with a .271 batting average, 32 hits, seven doubles, two triples, nine steals and 16 RBIs.
At Metamora High School as a senior, Gaa had a .492 batting average with a school record of 62 hits and 35 stolen bases. He was second team All-State and was selected to the 2013 Rawlings preseason All-American Team. Gaa had a .417 batting average with 53 hits and 42 runs scored as a junior. He was a McDonald’s All-Star in both 2012 and 2013 and participated in the Crossroads All-Star Game. In 2012 Gaa was selected for Team Illinois during the Midwest Futures Games where he played on the Cincinnati Reds Scout Team.
Godinez, a 5’9”, 190-pound native of Lake Bluff, Illinois will come to Kenosha after completing his second season with the Braves. In his freshman campaign he hit .320 with 54 hits, six doubles, four home runs and 18 RBIs while playing in 41 games including 40 starts. Following his freshman year, Godinez was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. In 2014 for the Braves, Godinez has made 31 starts in 33 games. He has recorded 30 hits, 11 doubles and 15 steals on the year. Godinez is majoring in business and twice has earned a spot on the Bradley Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
The Kingfish will host their season opener against the Mankato MoonDogs on Saturday, May 31st at 6:05pm at Kenosha’s historic Simmons Field. Single-game tickets will go on sale April 26th at 9:00 am.
