Kingfish Sign Duo of Gators

Young and Reed Heading to Kenosha this Summer

Kenosha, Wis. — The Kenosha Kingfish have announced the signing of sophomore left-handed pitcher Danny Young and freshman outfielder Michael “Buddy” Reed from the University of Florida.

Young, a 6’2”, 185-pound southpaw from Boca Raton, Florida will join the Kingfish after his second season in Gainesville. So far, in 2014 Young has a 1.50 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched. Young appeared in 22 games for the Gators as a freshman in 2013 and was third on the team with seven starts. Young became a go-to option out of the pen and posted a 4.28 earned run average over 40 innings pitched. Young finished the season with a 3-4 record and 23 strikeouts in his first season playing in the SEC.

Following his freshman year at Florida, Young spent the 2013 summer in the Northwoods League as a member of the Wisconsin Woodchucks. Young registered 25 strikeouts in his 8 starts and posted a 4.84 earned run average over 39 innings for the Woodchucks last summer.  During his time in Florida, Young has performed equally well off the field and was named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.

Reed, a 6’4”, 185-pound native of Finksburg, Maryland stared as a three-sport athlete, playing baseball, basketball and hockey at St. George’s High School. Following his prep career Reed was selected in the 35th round by the Texas Rangers in the 2013 Major League Baseball draft.  In 2014 for the Gators, Reed has started 30 out of 35 games this season. He has recorded 25 hits, 16 runs, five doubles, and four RBIs.

The Kingfish will host their season opener against the Mankato MoonDogs on Saturday, May 31st at 6:05 pm at Kenosha’s Historic Simmons Field. Single-game tickets will go on sale April 26th at 9:00 am.
