Simpson is 12th Player from 2013 Squad to Sign
Waterloo, Iowa – The Waterloo Bucks have announced that right-handed pitcher Landon Simpson has re-signed to play with Waterloo for the 2014 season. Simpson, a sophomore at the University of Arkansas, is the 26th player to be named to the Bucks’ roster for the team’s 20th season.
Last season, Simpson led Waterloo in wins, finishing the year with a 7-1 record. The 5’10”, 180-pounder started eight of the nine games he appeared in, striking out 36 in 55 innings to go along with a 3.11 ERA.
“Landon gave us positive results and consistency on the mound last season,” said Bucks General Manager Dan Corbin. “He was a huge part of our record setting season last summer and we’re excited to be able to bring him back to Waterloo for another chance to get back to the playoffs.”
A native of Magnolia, Arkansas, Simpson has appeared in 12 games this season for the Razorbacks. Simpson is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched.
Born September 2, 1992, Simpson attended Magnolia High School where he was named to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All-Arkansas Team. In 2010, Simpson earned 5A All-State and All-State Tournament honors. Landon is the son of Keith and Tena Simpson.
The Bucks will open the 2014 season on the road versus the Rochester Honkers on May 27, but return to Waterloo for their home opener versus Rochester on May 28.
