Howell pacing Chabot’s offense this season, with both pitchers owning 2.00 or less ERAs

Green Bay, Wis. –The Green Bay Bullfrogs are pleased to announce the signing of four players for the upcoming season. Two positional players from the state of California, sophomore Ryan Howell (1B/OF) from Chabot College in Hayward, California and redshirt sophomore Brian Celsi (OF) from California are set to join the Bullfrogs for the summer 2014 season. Along with Howell and Celsi, the Bullfrogs will welcome in two pitchers, junior Cody Pollack (RHP) from Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska and sophomore Josh Glick (RHP) from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the summer 2014 season.

1B/OF – Ryan Howell, 6’1”, 210 lbs (R/R), Sophomore

Howell has had a tremendous sophomore season for Chabot. In 34 games this season, Howell has a .317 batting average with 40 hits, and is second on the team in on-base percentage with a .476 mark. Howell has showcased his strength for the Gladiators, leading the team in home runs, RBI, doubles, and slugging percentage with totals of 8, 39, 13, and .643, respectively. He has anchored Chabot at first base and in the outfield as well, with a .992 fielding percentage and has just two errors on the season.

OF – Brian Celsi, 5’9”, 185 lbs (L/R), Redshirt Sophomore

Celsi has started 17 games and played in 27 for the Golden Bears out of the Pac-12 Conference this season. In 62 at-bats, Celsi has 17 hits, with two doubles, one triple, and a .274 batting average. Along with 21 total bases, ten RBI, and ten runs scored, Celsi owns a .357 on-base percentage to go with a .339 slugging percentage. The Elk Grove, Calif. Native started in 44 games last season as a redshirt freshman, after redshirting the 2012 season, batting .333 in Pac-12 play and .276 overall.

RHP – Cody Pollack, 6’1”, 190 lbs (R/R), Junior

Pollack has been Midland’s closer for the season, and his eight saves have played a large role in the Warriors’ 35-14 overall record and 14-2 record in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Pollack has appeared in 22 games for Midland, pitching 27 innings. He owns a 2.00 ERA with a 1-1 record. The Troutdale, Ore. native has allowed an earned run in just four of his 22 appearances on the season.

RHP – Josh Glick, 5’10”, 170 lbs (R/R), Sophomore

Glick has been one of Nova Southeastern’s main cogs out of the bullpen once again in 2014. He has appeared in 13 games for the Sharks, striking out 26 batters in 26 innings of work. Glick owns a team-low 1.38 ERA and has posted three saves in his sophomore season. In 2013 as a freshman, the Boca Raton, Fla. native led all NSU relievers in appearances out of the bullpen with 17. He posted a 1-0 record with a 3.81 ERA, striking out 31 batters in 28 1/3 innings of work.
