Montevallo and Santa Clara hurlers to come to Eau Claire in 2014
Eau Claire, Wis. – Express Field Manager Dale Varsho announced today the addition of two right-handed pitchers to the 2014 Eau Claire roster. Montevallo (Ala.) sophomore Aron McRee and Santa Clara sophomore Steven Wilson now brings the Express roster to 28.
McRee, a 6-footer from Albaster, Ala., is the top guy out of the bullpen for the Falcons, a Division II school. In 21 appearances, McRee is 3-1 on the year with a 2.64 Earned Run Average. He has 23 strikeouts in 30.1 innings, but opponents are only batting .198 against him. A year ago, McRee was 4-0 on the year for Montevallo, where former pitcher Ed Brandsema also plays.
Wilson, a 6-foot-3 and 195-pounder from Littleton, Colo., has started 10 games this year for the Broncos. He has a 4.07 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 55.1 innings of work, but his most impressive start came in a win against Portland, where he tossed eight innings and only allowed one run. He also struck out six in the contest and earned his first win of the season.
The Express begin their 10th season of play in the Northwoods League on Tuesday, May 27 versus the Lakeshore Chinooks. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM with gates opening at 5:30. Season tickets and voucher packs are on sale now. Single-game tickets will go on sale this Thursday.
