Brandon Stennis from Doane College returns to the Honkers
(Rochester, Minn)— The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of two pitchers to temporary contracts for the 2014 season.
Brandon Stennis, a left-handed pitcher from Doane College in Neb., returns to the Honkers this summer on a temporary contract. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound junior is currently 8-1 with a 2.02 ERA. Stennis has made 10 starts on the season, pitching 62.1 innings, allowing only 14 earned runs and leads the pitching staff in strikeouts with 60. Last summer for the Honkers, Stennis went 2-6 with a 6.14 ERA. He made 15 appearances, seven of them starts, pitching 48.1 innings and striking out 37.
Ryan Fritze, is a 6-foot-2, 198-pound right-handed sophomore from Des Moines Area Community College. Currently he is 6-2 with a 5.17 ERA. Fritze has made 12 appearances, 10 of them starts, pitching 55.2 innings, and leads the pitching staff with 56 strikeouts. The Woodbury, Minn. native has also recorded three complete games and leads the staff in starts and total appearances.
The Rochester Honkers 21st season begins on May 27th when the Waterloo Bucks prance into Mayo Field for a 7:05pm first pitch. The Honkers will play 72 games in 2014 (36 home, 36 away).
