Team accepting name submissions through May 14

Eau Claire, Wis. – The Eau Claire Express announced today a naming contest for a new mascot to be unveiled at Carson Park on Opening Night, May 27 at Carson Park. The new mascot unveiling will be a key event in kicking off the team’s 10th Anniversary season in the Northwoods League. The winner will receive a General Admission season ticket and a chance to participate in the unveiling ceremony.

While the design of the new mascot will be kept confidential until Opening Night, the team did reveal the general concept of the design.

“In the nine years we have been in the league, Trax has been a popular fixture at Carson Park,” said Express General Manager Andy Neborak. “We are excited to be able to add to the entertainment at Express games by creating a female character that complements the design of our current mascot, Trax. We all kind of use our imagination as to what species Trax is and the new mascot will have similar design characteristics.”

Starting today, May 7, fans can submit name ideas for the new mascot by sending an email to media@eauclaireexpress.com with “Mascot Name Suggestion” in the subject line and his or her name, address and phone number in the body of the message. Name suggestions will be taken through May 14.

A vote on the top three names, as determined by the Express front office, will run from May 15 to May 21 on the Express Facebook Page. The winning name will be announced on May 22 and the mascot will make its official debut on Opening Night. The winner of the contest will be selected at random from those fans who submitted the winning name.

The Express begin their 10th season of play in the Northwoods League on Tuesday, May 27 versus the Lakeshore Chinooks. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM with gates opening at 5:30. Season tickets, voucher packs and single-game tickets are on sale now.
