Matt Fiedler joins teammates Connor Schaefbauer and Jordan Smith to the Honkers Squad

(Rochester, Minn.)The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today that University of Minnesota Golden Gopher sophomore Matt Fiedler will join the team next summer.  Fiedler joins Gopher teammates Connor Schaefbauer and Jordan Smith to the Honkers this summer.

Fiedler is a 5-foot-10, 190-pound outfielder and right-handed pitcher from Eagan, Minn.  He finished his freshman season at Minnesota hitting .304 with a .385 on base percentage.  He appeared in 21 games, 12 of which were starts.  On the mound, Fiedler made eight relief appearances, pitching 15.1 innings and striking out 13.  He posted a 2-1 record and batters hit .238 against him.

Fiedler graduated from St. Paul Academy High School in 2013.  He was a 2013 Mr. Baseball finalist, a Minnesota 2A Player of the Year and Section 4AA Player of the year.  He hit .439 as a senior while also posting a 0.52 ERA with 39 strikeouts.  He was also a member of the East squad for the 2013 Play Ball! Minnesota High School All-Star Series.

The Rochester Honkers 22nd season begins on May 26th when the Mankato MoonDogs bark into Mayo Field for a 7:05pm first pitch.  Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available.
