Three More from New Mexico Added to Express

 

Eau Claire, WI – The Eau Claire Express announced today that three more players from the University of New Mexico have joined the Express 2015 roster. Daniel Collier (OF), Luis Gonzalez (LHP/OF), and Tyler Stevens (RHP) will join their Lobo teammate and Express alum Connor Rusch (already announced) for the 2015 season.

Daniel Collier is a sophomore at New Mexico originally from Albuquerque, having played his high school ball for Sandia High School. In his freshmen season with the Lobos, Collier was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year. Collier posted a .353 average in 38 games while scoring 20 and batting in 20 hitting primarily from the leadoff spot in the Lobo lineup. Collier also sported a .419 on-base percentage reaching base in all but one of his 33 starts.

Luis Gonzalez (LHP/OF) is entering his freshman season at New Mexico hailing from Tucson, Arizona and Catalina Foothills High School. Gonzalez was named the state Division 2 MVP his senior year for hitting .500 and blasting ten home runs.

Tyler Stevens (RHP) is also entering his freshman campaign at New Mexico having played his prep ball at Rocky Mountain High School in Ft. Collins, CO. Stevens was part of the 5A State Championship team at Rocky Mountain High School in 2014 and was named to the All-State and All-Conference teams twice while in high school.

The Express begin their 11th season of play in the Northwoods League on May 26th as they take on the Border Cats in Thunder Bay. Eau Claire’s home opener is scheduled for May 28th versus the Duluth Huskies. First pitch of that contest will be at 6:35 PM.
