Two Pitchers and Two Infielders Added to Rox Roster
St. Cloud, MN – The St. Cloud Rox announced today the signing of two pitchers and two infielders for the 2015 season. The list includes pitchers Collin Strall (Louisiana State University) and Robbie Petty (Nicholls State University) along with infielders Jake Farr (Tennessee Tech University) and Brandon Benson (Georgia College)
Strall is a 5’10” sophomore right-handed pitcher at Louisiana State University. In three appearances so far this season he has thrown 2.2 innings without surrendering a hit or run while striking out four batters. Strall spent last season at Tallahassee Community College where he posted a 7-2 record and a 2.54 ERA. He stuck out 63 batters in 60.1 innings on his way to being named to the 2014 National Junior College Athletic Association National Team.
Petty is a 6’0” junior right-handed pitcher at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He has appeared in three games for the Colonels, throwing four innings and posting a 2.25 ERA. Petty is a transfer from Panola College where he played in 2013 and 2014. Last season he compiled a 3-3 record with five saves over 51.2 innings. In 2013 he was selected to play in the Texas/New Mexico Junior College All-Star Game.
Farr, a 6’1” left-handed hitting middle infielder is in his junior season at Tennessee Tech University. He is currently batting .462 this season for the Golden Eagles with one homerun and six runs scored. Farr spent his first two collegiate seasons at Walters State Community College. Last year in 59 games he had a .311 batting average with two homeruns, 54 RBI and 22 stolen bases.
Benson is a 6’1” sophomore infielder at Georgia College. Through seven games this season with the Bobcats he has a .357 batting average with 10 base hits and four RBI. Last season he saw action in 47 games, posting a .338 batting average with five homeruns and 36 RBI. Benson played for the Rockville Express last summer where he was selected to play in the Cal Ripken League All-Star Game.
Field Manager Augie Rodriguez, as well as the Rox organization will continue to build the roster for the 2015 season
The Rox home opener is Saturday, May 30th at Joe Faber Field as the Rox take on the Thunder Bay Border Cats at 7:05p.m. There will be a post-game fireworks show presented by Coborn’s.
