(Rochester, Minn.) The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of catcher Collin Leif and pitcher Peter Resnick to their temporary roster for the 2015 season.

Leif is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound junior catcher at the University of Nebraska Omaha.  Currently the Bemidji, Minn. native is hitting .171 but posts a .990 fielding percentage, committing only one error on the season.  Leif has started 14 of 18 total games played on the season with 87 putouts and 13 assists. As a sophomore, Leif appeared in 42 games, starting 33 and hit .180.

Leif is teammate of returning Rochester Honkers outfielder, Alex Schultz, who is hitting .329 with six RBIs and a perfect seven for seven in stolen bases.  Schultz has started every game for the 10-8 Mavericks who welcome North Dakota State this weekend for a three-game Summit League conference set in Omaha.

Resnick is a 6-foot-3, 200-pound junior right-handed pitcher from Northbrook, Ill.  He currently hasn’t pitched at Bradley due to a nerve issue that was surgically cleared up, but has made a full recovery.

“Peter is fine and has been throwing bullpens and is cleared to go,” said Bradley Pitching Coach Larry Scully.  “When we start conference play in two weeks, Peter is the first guy out of the bullpen.  He’s a good one and we need him.”

Resnick was one of Bradley’s top middle relievers his first two seasons.  He has come out of the bullpen 30 of his 34 total mound appearances, posting a 3.99 career ERA and 38 total strikeouts.

Temporary players are guaranteed 10 days with the team with a maximum stay of the end of the first half, depending on roster size.  Alex Schultz started off as a temporary player last summer for Rochester, and was intra-league waived at the end of the first half, but was able to return with a full-time contract when the team lost a player the next day and he cleared waivers.

The Rochester Honkers 22nd season begins on May 26th when the Mankato MoonDogs bark into Mayo Field for a 7:05pm first pitch.  Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available. Call the Rochester Honkers office at 507-289-1170 for more information.  The Honkers are also looking for host families for the 2015 season and ask all interested parties to call the business office for more information.
