Chinooks Welcome Two More from Ohio Schools

Mequon, WI – As the Lakeshore Chinooks round out their roster for the upcoming 2015 season, the team has added two more players from the Buckeye State in left-handed pitcher Zac Lowther (Xavier) and outfielder Jake Romano (Miami-OH).

Zac Lowther is a 6’2, 230 pound freshman from Brooklyn Heights, OH where he was a First Team All-Ohio selection at Cuyahoga Heights High School. During the 2013 season, Lowther led the Greater Cleveland area with 148 strikeouts and had an ERA of 0.55 and helped lead CHHS to a Division IV State Runner-Up finish. Lowther is off to a strong start in his freshman season at Xavier as he leads the Musketeers with a 2.45 ERA in 11 relief appearances, striking out 21 batters in 23 innings of work. He has held opposing batters to a .205 batting average. Lakeshore’s Eddy Morgan commented, “We’ve had great success with young pitchers like Zac and we try to have a good supply of lefty pitchers. We’re excited to see what he can do!” Lowther is also excited about the opportunity, saying, “I think playing in a great community for the defending champs will help me become a better player.”

Jake Romano is a speedy outfielder from Algonquin, IL where he attended Dundee-Crown High School and was an All-State selection after hitting .511 in his senior year. At Miami, the 5’9 junior, who was the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year in 2013, patrols the outfield alongside 2014 Chinook, Matt Honchel. Romano currently holds a career batting average of .301 with a .383 on-base percentage and 24 stolen bases. “With the fast track at Kapco Park, we like to have has much speed as we can get and Jake will certainly help us in the outfield and setting the table for our hitters,” says Eddy Morgan.
