Injuries to two signed players forces team to adjust and reload roster
(Rochester, Minn.)— The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of two Oregon Ducks, Brac Warren and Slade Heggen, for the 2015 season.
Warren is a 6-foot-4, 215-pound freshman right-handed pitcher from Rosebud, Mont. He has made 10 appearances on the season, pitching 14.0 innings, allowing 5 hits, striking out 10 and batters are hitting a mere .114 against him. Warren played seven seasons of summer ball in Montana for the Miles City Outlaw Baseball Club. He finished his senior season 2-1 with a 0.78 ERA on 34.2 innings of work. He struck out 60 while allowing only three earned runs. Warren was a 2014 West-All Region First-Team Selection by Perfect Game.
Heggen is a 6-foot, 200-pound freshman catcher from Missoula, Mont. He currently hasn’t seen any action this year due to the strong line-up of upper classman catchers on the Oregon roster. Heggen played the last three summers with the Missoula Mavericks where in 2014 he was named a third-team All-American and first-team West-Region All-American by Perfect Game. He finished the season hitting .393 with six home runs, 64 RBIs, 17 triples and 44 stolen bases. He led the team in eight offensive categories and even hit for the cycle, including a walk-off home run in a 15-4 win over Great Falls. He was one of nine players in the nation to be named to the American Legion All-Academic Team. In three seasons with the Mavericks, he struck out just 68 times in 937 plate appearances and was ranked the top player coming out of the state of Montana.
With injuries to catcher Drake Zarate, from UC Riverside, and left-handed pitcher Orlando Razo, from UC Davis, the Rochester Honkers reloaded with two Oregon Ducks.
