Trio Will Pitch in Northwoods League for First Time

Madison, Wisc. — The Madison Mallards have announced the signings of three right-handed pitchers to the 2015 roster. Joseph Camacho (Alabama State University), Mike Kaelin (University of Buffalo), and Westin Wuethrich (Madison Area Technical College).

Camacho, standing at 5’9”, will join the Mallards following the completion of his junior campaign with the Hornets. As a sophomore, Camacho led the SWAC with nine winning decisions en route to capturing the conference’s pitcher-of-the-year award. He’s undefeated (11-0) with an ERA of 3.76 thus far this season.

Originally from El Paso, Texas, Camacho compiled a 10-1 record in district play as a senior in high school, a feat that netted him inclusion into first-team all-district honors during his final season prior to attending Alabama State. Camacho is currently pursuing a degree in Recreational Physical Therapy.

Kaelin, also weighing in at 5’9”, will suit up for manager Donnie Scott and the Mallards after his redshirt sophomore season with the University of Buffalo. Kaelin has struck out more than one batter per inning (11.8 K/9) in late relief for the Bulls thus far, and this past March retired 24 consecutive batters.

Born and raised in Cheektowaga, New York, Kaelin attended Maryvale High School and was twice named as a First Team ECIC All-Star. He concluded his three-year run with the school’s varsity baseball program with a .448 batting average and 206 strikeouts as a pitcher, which were second-most in Maryvale’s history.

Wuethrich, a 6’2” right-hander from Greenwood, Wisconsin, will find his way onto the Mallards 2015 roster following his sophomore season with Madison College. Wuethrich has authored a 4-1 record, 3.35 ERA and batting average against of .222 over his first nine outings with the Wolf Pack’s starting rotation.

A three-sport athlete and four-time letter winner in baseball and football for Greenwood High School, Wuethrich was named Cloverbelt East Conference MVP during his senior campaign for baseball. That same season, Wuethrich helped lead Greenwood to victory at the WIAA D4 State Championship.

The Mallards host their season opener on Tuesday, May 26 at 6:35 pm when they take on the Kalamazoo Growlers.  Mallards single game tickets are on sale now!
