Alex Martinez and Jeremy Graf become newest arms in Bullfrogs rotation
Green Bay, Wis. – Alex Martinez, a 6’0” hurler from De Anza College in Cupertino, CA joins Jeremy Graf, a 6’3” pitcher from St. Petersburg College, as the latest players to join Green Bay less than two weeks away from the start of the season on May 26th.
Sophomore Alex Martinez pitched this past spring for Head Coach Erick Raich, a former scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Martinez culminated a dominant season in which his team reached the NJCAA playoffs for the first time in 12 seasons. Also a third baseman, he was named as a utility player to the all-conference team. Martinez sports a strong changeup and an electric fastball capable of reaching 95 MPH.
As a freshman, Martinez was a teammate with fellow Bullfrogs Brian Celsi and Mitchell Kranson at the University of California-Berkeley. Martinez started four games on the mound, accumulating 15 appearances and 33IP. A native of Union City, CA and graduate of James Logan H.S., Martinez was a four-year letter winner and threw a one-hit shutout against powerhouse De La Salle H.S. as a sophomore in the North Coast Section title game.
Jeremy Graf posted a similarly dominant 2015 season for the St. Petersburg College Titans of the Region 8 in the NJCAA. The sophomore led the team with 24 appearances and five saves. In 26IP, he surrendered just 15 hits and finished the season with a 2.08 ERA. In his last seven appearances of 2015, Graf did not allow any runs out of the bullpen.
A native of Forth Worth, FL in Palm Beach County, Graf spent 2014 at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL. Graf also was placed in a relief role where he managed 15 appearances in 13 1/3 IP. Graf also recorded a save and struck out 14 hitters. He graduated in 2013 from Park Vista Community H.S.
The Bullfrogs will open up the 2015 season at home on May 26th against the La Crosse Loggers. Group tickets, season tickets and 7-game packages are on sale now. The Bullfrogs off-season hours are Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. For more information please visit www.greenbaybullfrogs.com.
