Temporary Contract Players Announced for Wisconsin Rapids

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.- The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are pleased to announce the additions of eight players to the roster. These players have signed temporary contracts to play for the Rafters, including three players from the 2014 roster: 

IF- Zack Domingues-5’10” 175 lbs L/R RS Junior, Long Beach State

The reigning Northwoods League batting champion and sure-handed infielder returns to Wisconsin Rapids for a second summer in 2015. Domingues batted .376 during the 2014 campaign.

RHP- Jake Johansmeier-6’3” 180 lbs R/R Junior, Eastern Illinois

The Junior right-hander is another experienced arm returning to the Rafters for the start of the 2015 season. He threw 58 innings for Eastern Illinois this spring.

RHP- Derek Kawlewski-6’3” 225 lbs R/R Junior, Rhode Island

The tall right-hander has appeared in 8 games and thrown a solid 14 2/3 innings for the Rhode Island Rams this spring.

IF- Jonah Bride-5’11” 195 lbs R/R Freshman, Neosho CC

Jonah comes to Wisconsin Rapids this summer fresh off an incredible spring at Neosho CC. In 58 games Bride hit .471 with 14 home runs and 93 RBIs. 

C- Tyler Johnson-5’9” 185 lbs L/R Sophomore, Navarro JC

Johnson is a catcher that provides solid defense and a solid bat at the plate for the Rafters. He’s played in 15 games at Navarro JC this spring.

LHP, IF- Max Widmar-6’3” 200 lbs L/L Freshman, Parkland College

Widmar provides the Rafters with a solid utility player as he can pitch and play the field for the Rafters. He was hitting .500 with Parkland College in the spring in his role as a pinch-hitter. 

RHP- Michael Austin-6’4” 195 lbs R/R Junior, Bethun-Cookman

Austin, a Junior this season was 3-2 with 35 strikeouts in 44 innings for Bethune-Cookman this spring.

C- Kyle Devin-6’1” 225 lbs L/R Sophomore, Rhode Island

Kyle Devin is one of two players joining the Rafters from Rhode Island for the start of the 2015 season. The transfer from Stony Brook will be a welcome addition behind the dish for the Rafters.
