The Madison Mallards kicked off their second half opener, falling at the hands of the Kalamazoo Growlers 12-8, however they were led by a sensational performance at the plate by their outfielder Anthony Gonsolin.
Gonsolin went 2-for-5 on the night, with each of his hits leaving the yard, as he now ties a league-high with six home runs, and also finished with five RBIs. The senior from St. Mary's has arguably been the best bat in the entire Madison lineup, owning a .325 batting average, .415 on-base percentage, with 6 home runs and 23 RBIs through 31 games played.
Gonsolin and the Mallards will look for the series split as they host Kalamazoo from game two starting at 7:05 PM.
