The Lakeshore Chinooks split their Saturday doubleheader against the host Kalamazoo Growlers, but routed the home team 16-2 in game one, led behind their right fielder Lucas Raley's record-breaking performance with the bat.
Raley went 4-for-5 on the night, however all four of hits were home runs, setting a new Northwoods League record. He started off with a solo home run in the 1st, followed by another solo shot in the 3rd, adding a three-run bomb in the 5th, and finishing off his night with a three-run home run in the 6th inning. The junior from Lake Erie has proven to be one of the most powerful hitters in the Northwoods League, owning a .313 batting average, with league-highs in home runs (9) and RBIs (36).
Raley and the Chinooks will seek their third victory of the new half as they travel to Battle Creek for a two-game series beginning at 6:05 PM.
