Thunder Bay collected their fifth victory in the second half, shutting down the Honkers lineup and finally being on the positive side of a close ballgame, winning 2-1 backed by a spectacular outing by their starter Jeremy Charles.
Charles controlled the game throughout, throwing all nine innings, surrendering just one run on seven hits, and striking out seven as he picked up his team-high fifth win of the season. The ace of the Border Cats staff has proven to be a force throughout the North Division with a 5-1 record, 2.34 ERA, striking out 36 batters through 50 innings of work. A junior from Hartford has been lights out in his last three starts, allowing just one run in 23 innings.
The Border Cats will look to move out of last place in the North as they host Waterloo for a two-game series beginning at 7:05 PM.
