The Woodchucks swept their road series in Kalamazoo, coasting to victory by way of 6-0 as they were carried by a spectacular pitching effort by their starter Devin Skapura, winning Pitcher of the Night in back-to-back starts.
Skapura was absolutely stellar tonight, going the distance for a complete game shutout, giving up just three hits and striking out a season-high nine batters. The righty from Texas A&M Corpus Christi is not headed to Wisconsin Rapids for the All-Star game, however he may currently be the best pitcher in the league, owning a 21 1/3 scoreless streak over his last three starts. Skapura has proven to be the ace of the Woodchucks pitching staff with a 1.59 ERA and 47 strikeouts through 50 2/3 innings of work.
The Woodchucks pick up action again on Thursday as they host Kalamazoo for a two-game series beginning at 7:05 PM.
